Austin Tech Alliance
Austin Tech Alliance is a nonpartisan nonprofit that advocates for civic engagement in Austin’s tech sector. I started at ATA in 2017, running their programs in partnership with the City of Austin, and eventually became executive director.
In that role, I ran the day-to-day, including taking care of financials, managing a small staff and interns, running board meetings, writing press and content, creating social media, plan and execute in-person and digital monthly events, fundraise, brainstorm new products, and more.
ATA has over 70 member companies and thousands of individual members. They are supported by the work I did to raise awareness of civics in Austin’s tech scene.
This awareness came in many forms:
speaking at community events about policies that affect our community
conducting user interviews to understand how best to build products for residents and our user base
working with offsite development teams to create civic tech for our community
and more!
In my role running programs, I worked with design and research teams to create Paper Census and informed.vote.
